Begin the evening with a hosted cocktail hour, silent and live auctions: We are proud to announce our distinguished guest speaker for this year’s “We Believe” Gala presented by Horse Rhythm Foundation, Colonel Thomas Kirk! He is a Veteran of the COLD, KOREAN, VIETNAM WARS AND FORMER POW, COL. THOMAS H. KIRK. He will share his dynamic telling of his time in the service and 1,964 days in captivity. See more below.

Col. Kirk was a US Air Force fighter pilot, who served in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. While leading the largest fighter-bomber raid of the Vietnam War, Colonel Kirk’s F-105 was hit by anti-aircraft fire over Hanoi, North Vietnam on October 28, 1967. With his ship engulfed in flames, he was forced to parachute from the plane where upon he was immediately captured and spent five and a-half years as a Prisoner of War at the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” prison camp. He was released after the war’s end in March, 1973. For his combat leadership and heroism he was awarded the Air Force Cross, four Silver Stars, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, nine Air Medals and the Purple Heart. His final assignment was as Vice Commander of Special Forces at US European Command prior to retiring in 1978, after 28 years of service.
